223 Rem - 62 Grain SP - Speer Gold Dot LE - 20 Rounds

With more new firearm owners these days than ever before, we’re very often asked this question: “What’s the best ammo for self-defense with an AR-15?” And now that we’re lucky enough to have it in stock, we can refer the fine people asking that question to this ammo right here. Speer makes this 223 Rem cartridge in Lewiston, Idaho for law enforcement officers, but you don’t need a badge to order it. What makes this round most special is its 62 grain Gold Dot soft point bullet. That bullet has an electrochemically bonded jacket. This means the jacket was applied to its alloyed lead core one single molecule at a time, which makes it (A) super balanced for accurate flight, and (B) pretty much inseparable during penetration, ensuring that the Gold Dot bullet retains the momentum it needs to pass through barriers as strong as auto glass and still dig its way deep into a target. As a soft point, this Gold Dot bullet is even better optimized for self-defense. It will reliably expand and tumble about in soft tissue to create a very nasty injury – the kind that stops a threat dead in their tracks. This bullet delivers terminal expansion even after it has flown up to 200 yards away, and it is also highly effective when fired from a short barrel rifle. This round’s 3,000 fps muzzle velocity (out of a 24 inch barrel) is standard for its caliber and bullet weight, and its aerodynamic bullet keeps retains nearly half of that velocity 500 yards out. Its propellant is formulated to create reduced muzzle flash upon ignition – that’s important if you would ever fire this ammo in the dark, as it will keep bright light from destroying your night vision. This round also features a nickel-plated brass case, which naturally resists corrosion and helps to prevent a life-threatening jam. It’s all expertly put together, tested according to strict quality control protocol, and ready to live in your magazine. Your personal safety is too important to entrust to a lesser cartridge.
